In this position you will dive into a unique challenge, as you are involved in the design and the development of the next generation of optical transceivers.
Senior Optical Designer (m/f/d) for Component Engineering
Job responsibilities:
- Development and design of optical systems and micro-optical components by means of profound modelling and simulations
- Conceptualization, calculation of performance parameters and tolerance analysis for prototyping and production
- Identifying of parametrical correlations enabling design optimization
- Proficiency in modelling of sequential and non-sequential systems with optical CAD (ZEMAX OpticStudio)
- Familiar with optical lens fabrication technology, test and characterization methodologies
- Assessment of optical design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Processing, evaluation and reporting of results through thorough documentation
- Implement complex findings by interacting with colleagues leading to successful completion of product development program
Your profile:
- Master’s degree or PhD in applied optics or physics, optoelectronics, electrical engineering with focus on optical modelling, or equivalent qualification
- Deep knowledge about the fundamentals and modelling of free-space and fiber-optic light propagation
- 5 years of work experience in relevant area, designing industry-compliant optical systems and components
- Profound knowledge of relevant software packages for design, simulations, and data analysis (e.g., ZEMAX OpticStudio, Python, MATLAB, Excel, Origin)
- Methodical and self-directed working style
- Attention to details and conscientiousness related to the quality of work
- Maintaining accuracy and excellence in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment
- Able to communicate fluently in spoken and written English, good German would be an asset
